Canned Food Drive

Special Charity Note:

Each year at Ramp Riot food cans are collected and donated to the Mattie N Dixon Community Cupboard.  The team that brings the most cans is awarded the 2012 Mike Wade Memorial Trophy.

This year we are asking FTC Scrimmage teams to support this worthwhile cause and bring in food cans.  FTC scrimmage teams collectively will form one "team".

But more importantly there a large number of struggling families in this district that lost all of their food during the storm and blackout last week.  Please, Please do whatever you can to bring canned goods for these families.  This year it is more important then ever to participate. Many are trying to replace food that spoiled last week.

Honoring Mike Wade: (during Special Presentations) in FRC Arena
Mike Wade was a NASA Goddard Space Flight Center employee that made a life’s work out of helping children. He also provided invaluable support which fostered the growth of Ramp Riot and many FIRST Teams. Mike passed away in the Spring of 2007, leaving a legacy of caring that we all must strive to continue. We honor him at Ramp Riot each year as a patron of our event, a pillar of FIRST and a mentor to many children in need. Each year we ask teams to donate canned goods to the Mattie Dixon Community Cupboard. The team that brings the most cans will win the Mike Wade Memorial Award. Mike gave us all so much over the years. We ask that all teams
participate in this contest to honor his contributions to young people everywhere.
