Workshop Series

The Build It! Pittsburgh and Program It! Pittsburgh workshops are a multi-part series to help teams jump start their robot design, build, and programming, as well as providing practice time on the field. Veteran teams 4149 Terabytes and 7060 Team RobotiX are joining forces to host and run these events. Mentors and lead students from these teams will work directly with teams to help them prepare for their first scrimmage or Tournament.

Build It! is focused on initial robot building and introduction to the new programming environment.
Program It! is focused on programming.

New Technology Introduction Workshop

Instructor: Austin Frownfelter

New or just getting started with the FTC New Technology components? This workshop is for you. Topics include New Tech Review and Demo, Anderson Powerpoles, Driver Station, Robot Controller, Driving the Robot, Introduction to Development Tools and the FTC Software Development Kit (SDK), Creating a New OpMode, Interacting with sensors, motors and servos, and Troubleshooting the system.

Leave with a configured programming laptop, experience in setting up and using the FTC New Technology, and confidence to charge ahead into the season!

What to bring for the Workshop

These are hands on workshops. To get the most out of the workshops, please bring what you can of the following:

  • Programming laptop
  • FTC New Technology components: Electronics Modules (Base Kit) and/or Electronics Modules & Sensor Kit (Full Kit), USB cables
  • ZTE Speed phones,OTG USB cable, USB hub
  • Legacy components: DC Motor controllers, Servo controllers, Sensors, I2C cables
  • DC Motors, Servos, cables and wires, slotted screwdriver
  • Robot parts – Tetrix, Matrix, and other parts
  • Tools
  • Logitech F310 Gamepads
  • Charged Tetrix batteries and charger
  • Power strip
  • Safety glasses
