PA FTC State Championship – Important Info

Hello PA State Championship Teams and Volunteers!

Congratulations on your hard and smart work resulting in the advancement of your team to the PA FTC State Championship of the Ultimate Goal challenge, to be held Wednesday through Sunday, May 19th – 23rd. Awesome performance throughout this season. You have all deservedly earned your place in this 24 team, single division Remote tournament.

This communique is our first to provide you some important information to get you and your team prepared for this event. Please be sure to share this with your students as well.

First of all, please be aware that this is a stand-alone competition, that is your compiled scores and rankings from your respective League Tournaments does not carry over or impact your scoring in the State Championship. Neither does the Judged award results. You are all participating on a new and level playing field. Please note that this is reflected in the “Rankings” and “Match List” sections of the Remote Scoring system which lists all 24 teams in numerical order.

Second, the agenda for the State Championship is already set following the same sequence of days and times that you followed in the League Championships. The following link also lists the 24 teams (8 from each League) who have advanced including the specific Advancement Award received. Rankings and Scores can still be referenced in webpage for each of the respective League Tournaments that the team advanced from.

Team Robot Videos also remain accessible so you can check out the competition:

Third, the team schedule for Saturday morning Presentation and afternoon Follow Up Judging sessions is also already posted. Please go to the Remote Scoring System to check out your times. As usual, the times and links are dedicated to your team so you can go in and practice and prepare at your leisure.

On this note we want to thank the mentors who have provided us Feedback on the Remote Scoring System as well. Your issues have been heard and FIRST hopes to be able to provide improvements by the time of our tournament.

COMPASS and PROMOTE AWARD submissions will be accepted as of today through Sunday, May 16th at 11:59 PM. Reference Remote Game Manual 1, sections 9.5.8 and 9.5.9 for specific criteria surrounding these awards. Special note: The Public Service Announcement (PSA) for the Promote Award this season is “Why does FIRST Tech Challenge work?”.

Be sure to also reference section 9.4.4 of the manual for Video Award Submission Guidelines for Compass and Promote Awards as well.

Our link for video submissions to PA FIRST Robotics is:

We will follow with additional emails with reminders and any updates throughout the next two weeks leading up to the tournament. Please stay tuned but in the meantime please let us know if you should have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your attention and best of luck in your practices and upcoming Matches.
