FTC PA 2021-22 Season #15 – Remote Scrimmages and Q&A Forum Open

Hi Pennsylvania FTC PA Teams and Volunteers,

It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks since our last correspondence announcing the opening of Event Registration on October 19th. The great news is that we currently have 125 FIRST FTC Registered and paid teams in PA! This is a comeback from last season beyond our expectations and we are extremely happy for the energy and enthusiasm displayed by our veteran teams as well as 21 new Rookie teams. Thank you all! We look forward to many more event registrations.

For the teams that are eligible (FIRST FTC screened and paid) you should have received an email this afternoon regarding your automatic pre-registration and eligibility to participate in the PA FTC Scrimmages. There are four scheduled commencing this week:

  • Remote Scrimmage #1 – Tue Nov 2, 2021 – Sun Nov 7, 2021
  • Remote Scrimmage #2 – Tue Nov 16, 2021 – Sun Nov 21, 2021
  • Remote Scrimmage #3 – Tue Nov 30, 2021 – Sun Dec 5, 2021
  • Remote Scrimmage #4 – Tue Dec 14, 2021 – Sun Dec 19, 2021

We will be holding an Opening Ceremonies / Kickoff tomorrow evening, Tuesday November 2nd at 7:30 PM. This meeting is to specifically address any Scrimmage questions you may and a Remote Scoring System overview, especially for those that have not experienced this App. We will have a similar meeting each Tuesday evening prior to the week-long scrimmage opportunities. For detailed information regarding Remote Scrimmages as well as a link to the Scoring System please go to our website:

You may not feel that your team is ready for any competitions at this time but if you can play the Freight Frenzy Challenge, no matter how crude or sophisticated then this is your opportunity. Remember that Scrimmages do not count towards advancement in any way, shape or form; they are really formal practice sessions where your team can learn, use the scoring system and share results. Again, if you received notification then your team is already auto-registered for all Scrimmage weeks. Join and enjoy whenever you can between now and mid-December.

 Event Registrations:

For those coaches that have already Registered your team for FTC PA Events, thank you. Please be sure to double check your assignments based on your Preferences and requests, especially if you have provided Updates and changes since your New or original submission. Please be sure to let us know ASAP if you should have any questions or concerns.

 FTC Game Manuals and Forum:

Game Manual Part 2 has been Re-released. Please make sure to download the most recent copies of the Game Manual Part 2 – both Remote and Traditional, that were released on October 19th, 2021. All changes to each manual are listed in the revision history. There are significant rule modifications that you must be aware of.

Additionally, the FTC Forum opened a couple of weeks ago and your team should have been informed. If not, please got to the following link. Please know that the Game Review folks have asked that you please be sure to read the Game Manual and the responses to other questions in the forum before posting. Thank you!

Hope to “see” many of you tomorrow night for our Scrimmage kick-off. If not, we will be sure to see you sometime in the next few weeks. Of course, more to come in future email blasts as well.

Thank you,

Tom Zawislak and Dave Hackett
