FTC PA 2021-22 Season #11 – Kickoff Videos and Outreach/Scrimmages, Oct 2nd and 3rd

Hi all,

We are providing 2 updates in this email today.

Number one, please be advised that we have posted last Saturday’s Kickoff videos and presentation for your review. We have also included the Chat Log and Q&A as a refresher for the great conversations that we had. Thanks to all how participated! We truly do appreciate your questions and feedback. Please go to the following link and open the title “Pennsylvania FTC Season Kickoff” to access these materials.

Second, we would like to provide updates to the Robotstock Expo that we have been encouraging all teams to attend. Remember, it is FREE to all who participate as well as the general public. We are working this collaboratively with the Pennsylvania Robotics Alliance (EPRA).

Location: Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, 100 Station Avenue, Oaks, PA 19456

We have now provided Registration for one or both days on our website. Just go to the link, select “New/Update Event Registration” radio button and you will find the form under Event Type “Scrimmage”.

We have a lot of room for our teams and have expanded the nature of this event to include options for your team’s participation beyond scrimmaging.  We invite teams to come and:

  1. Demo for the attendees existing robots from either this season or last season’s game
  2. Provide demo bots for kids from the general public to drive
  3. Treat as a workshop for robot design, build, programming and driving from your kits
  4. Collaborate, brainstorm and share with other FTC teams in attendance
  5. Scrimmage against other teams

As was communicated in our last email we will have two fields set up; one with this seasons Freight Frenzy game and the other with last season’s Ultimate Goal game. We are wide open for teams to participate and any and all options above.

Of course, there is so much more to do given all FIRST programs will be in attendance in addition to other STEM based entities. There is a distinct focus on women in STEM as well with guest speakers and presentations. If that were not enough, please be aware that Brickfest Live will also be at the Expo Center in an adjoining part of the building. Websites for both follow.

There is no set obligation regarding time or date(s) for FTC teams to participate, come when you can and participate in any one or more of the 1 to 5 options noted above, your choice, but please let us know when you register by filling out the “Comments” section of the Registration form.

Additional FAQ’s for Robotstock follow. Masks required for attendees 2 and older regardless of vaccination status. Social distancing will be maintained. https://robotstockexpo.com/faqs

So please register as soon as you can to assist in our planning of activities. We will keep registration open through the 2nd.

We love getting the FIRST name and mission out to the public and know our teams have a blast participating. Thanks to all for your kind consideration for being part of this fantastic outreach and team collaboration opportunity.

Best Regards,
